Delusional

In a world of mirrors and reflections, The narcissist lived in his own illusions. Delusional fantasies clouded his sight, A way of life to avoid the harsh light. He could not bear to face the truth, So he created a world of his own sleuth. Where he was the center of attention, And everyone around him in suspension. Reality was too cruel for him to accept, So he chose to live in his own concept. His ego inflated beyond all measure, A mask of confidence, a hidden treasure. But deep down he knew the truth, That his world was built on lies, forsooth. His facade was cracking, falling apart, Revealing the emptiness in his heart. Yet still he clung to his delusions, A coping mechanism to avoid the confusion. Of facing the harshness of reality, And accepting his own mortality. But one day the mirrors shattered, And the truth could no longer be tattered. The narcissist was forced to see, The reality of his own deceitful glee. It was a painful awakening, a bitter pill, To swallow the truth, against his will. But in the end, he found a way, To embrace reality, come what may. No longer living in a world of lies, The narcissist finally opened his eyes. To the beauty and the pain of life, Accepting reality, banishing the strife.
